SCC Annual Meeting SCAM Alerts: Beware of Hotel and Attendee List Scams
What you need to know to stay safe
It has come to our attention that scammers are targeting our meeting attendees and exhibitors, attempting to solicit hotel bookings and sell attendee lists. SCC does not rent or sell email lists to third parties. Please beware of any messages regarding the SCC Annual Meeting coming from sources not affiliated with SCC. Avoid interaction with them. Valid emails regarding booking a hotel room will come from @scconline.org domains only.
Hotel Booking Scam
Like many other large meetings, the SCC Annual Meeting is the target of hotel scams. Scammers call or email potential attendees and exhibitors, claiming to represent SCC or its vendors, and encourage our customers to book rooms using fake promotion codes.
To secure your hotel for the SCC Annual Meeting, please visit our official booking site at www.scconline.org/Events/SCC80-Annual-Meeting/Hotel-SCC80. This link is the ONLY official source for booking discount hotel through the SCC hotel block.
Please know that neither SCC nor the hotel will be calling anyone to solicit a room reservation and that any person who claims to do so on our behalf is not authorized to do so. If ANYONE contacts you about booking hotel or purchasing attendee/data lists, please report it to SCC at scc@scconline.org.
The most recent scam we’ve been made aware of is from “Digital Hotel Booking” (digitalhotelbooking.com) and sent from a marketing email address complete with a link to book “the final few rooms available.” THIS IS A SCAM.

If you receive emails, texts, or calls regarding discounted SCC hotel accommodations, please disregard it and do not engage; report it to SCC at scc@scconline.org.
Attendee List Email Scam
Unfortunately, emails are circulating that offer to sell attendee lists for the SCC Annual Meeting. If you receive emails that propose to sell any SCC attendee lists, do not engage with the sender and delete the message immediately.
- SCC does not sell its exhibitor or attendee lists, and no third party is authorized to distribute or sell any lists related to our events.
- Statements claiming to offer our attendee lists are fraudulent.
- Select advertisers, exhibitors, and sponsors may purchase sponsored emails to attendees, but no contact information is provided directly to the entity. Emails are only sent on their behalf by SCC staff using an SCC email address.
