2026 Timeline / Policies & Procedures
Election Software: the HQ office manages national elections through associationvoting.com, a secure voting platform with unique voter IDs.
Open Positions: 2026 ballot positions include Vice President-Elect, Treasurer, Area I Director (CT, LI, NE, NY) & Area II Director (MI, MW, STL, TC)
Candidate Eligibility & Applicant Vetting: candidate eligibility and vetting policy as determined by Nominations & Elections Committee and/or adopted by the Board of Directors.
Candidate Solicitation: an email is sent to all members announcing the application period; announced in newsletter and on website home page; eligibility criteria & application linked on the SCC website.
Process:
1. Officers, Area Directors, and Staff encourage interested candidates to run (through May 2026).
2. Applicants self-nominate and return completed interest form to HQ by Monday, June 1, 2026.
3. HQ verifies the following by close of business Friday, June 5, 2026:
a. Membership status/eligibility
b. SCC service record (national)
c. Chapter membership
4. Nominations & Elections Committee is convened the week of June 15, 2026, to review and vet all applicants and shall be provided with:
a. Membership status eligibility confirmation
b. Chapter of candidate
c. SCC service record (national)
d. Application completed by candidate (self-nomination form, online)
5. At the aforementioned meeting, the Committee shall review candidate applications in accordance with the Eligibility Criteria and SCC National Board Applicant Vetting Policy, and propose a maximum of two (2) candidates for each national ballot position and provided to HQ immediately following the meeting.
a. Status Notification: On behalf of the committee, the national office shall communicate to all candidates whether or not they will be moving forward in the nomination process during the week of June 22, 2026.
b. Appeal: Candidates have the right to appeal the decision of the committee IN WRITING to eogrady@scconline.org within five (5) business days of status notification; such appeal must cite procedural error or material new information. Candidate shall be notified of a decision within ten (10) business days of receipt of appeal.
c. Board Affirmation: The final list of proposed candidates to appear on the ballot are subject to affirmation by the Board of Directors.
6. Board of Directors shall be sent the proposed slate of national Officer and Area Director candidates for affirmation at their July meeting; if no meeting is scheduled within the time frame to meet these deadlines, the slate may be sent to Board via email for comment/vote.
7. Upon Board approval, candidates are notified within 24 hours as to their ballot position and their ballot information requested. Candidacy statement, headshot, brief bio, and "Get to Know Your Candidate" Form from each board-affirmed candidate is due to HQ by Friday, July 31, 2026 – NO EXCEPTIONS. Candidates who do not provide this information by the deadline shall be removed from the ballot.
8. SCC website is updated with all candidate information by August 14, 2026, and e-ballot preparation will begin.
9. E-ballot shall delivered to eligible voting members on or before August 28, 2026, and shall remain open for 30-day voting period.
10. Results certified after ballot close by staff and sent to National Secretary for signature.
11. All candidates shall be notified of election outcome by the Nominations & Elections Committee Chair or a current national officer by October 1, 2026; press/announcement to follow.
