MEET OUR SPEAKER
Nelson Ayala, Ph.D. is the current chair of the Mid-Atlantic SCC Chapter. He has been a member since 1994, a Toastmaster since 1990, and a member of the American Chemical Society since 1978. Since 1990, he has spoken on topics of career development, public speaking, wine tasting, chocolate tasting, health benefits of wine and chocolate to many of the sections of the SCC. He holds 9 US patents, 1 WO patent, and is a professor of chemistry at Central Virginia Community College. He notes that It has been a great pleasure to meet so many fine scientists, salespersons, and technologists at chapter meetings in dozens of venues.
In the spring of 2024, Dr. Ayala was awarded a lumen scholarship to learn about online education. In the fall of 2024, he was awarded a lumen scholarship to learn more about artificial intelligence, and how it can be used to empower students to achieve higher levels of learning in the classroom. ready or not, artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the world, and more specifically the cosmetic industry in the following ways:

if the current rate of progress continues, in the near future there will be many new affordable artificial intelligence applications that will augment the performance of products on the skin, and will help customers make informed decisions about their skincare.
