What made you pursue a career in the cosmetics/personal care industry?

Honestly, the decision was made by one of my former bosses. My BS is in food science but someone in the R&D department at this particular company needed to take on cosmetics and my boss decided to make that person me.

What advice would you give your younger self who is just starting out in the industry?
Don’t be afraid of failure. Failing is learning

What is the favorite part of your job?

I enjoy the combination of science and creativity involved in formulating.

What has been your most recent professional accomplishment?

Since I am currently a full-time student, my most recent professional accomplishment is related to my educational endeavors. I was just admitted to Delta Mu Delta, a business honor society, which represents a considerable amount of work.

How has membership in the SCC been of value to you?

I’ve learned a great deal through the educational programs offered by the SCC but the contacts I’ve made have been even more valuable. It’s quite rewarding to know so many of the talented and knowledgeable professionals in the cosmetics field.

What is a fun fact about yourself, outside of the SCC and your professional life?

I am part of a vintage dance group that teaches and performs dances from the 1700s-1920s.
