What made you pursue a career in the cosmetics/personal care industry?

The combination of science and imagination that goes into the making of a successful product. Also, the people in this industry are required to be smart, forward-thinking and creative which is an incredible dynamic to be part of!

What advice would you give your younger self who is just starting out in the industry?
Go ahead, give it a try. As long as there’s a rationale behind it, any attempt at moving the needle forward will never be bad because even if it fails, there’s something to learn from.

What is the favorite part of your job?

Being able to work closely with a customer on a project, work in partnership and then see the fruits of your collaboration end up on a retail shelf for all to enjoy.

What has been your most recent professional accomplishment?

Well, I’ve had a dozen new ingredients approved in the last few months. Some are smaller, some larger but every one of them is a win that comes from working with my customers. On the SCC side, I’m so very proud of the turnout that we had for our SCC Education Day (September 25th) on the subject of the Microbiome. I am lucky to work with a great group of dedicated people in our local SCC Quebec Chapter.

How has membership in the SCC been of value to you?

The SCC in general is an amazing network of smart, driven and talented people that keep pushing me to improve and learn. Many are friends now too which I value heavily. Speaking from personal bias, I’d invite everyone to get to know the great community of people that we have here in our Quebec SCC Chapter. There is a wealth of experience and culture that mixes both the North American and European perspectives in a remarkable way.

What is a fun fact about yourself, outside of the SCC and your professional life?

I’m lucky enough to speak 4 languages, though I welcome a chance to practice my Spanish and Russian to go along with the French and English I speak fluently.
