What advice would you give your younger self who is just starting out in the industry? 
First, find a mentor outside your functional area so you don’t silo yourself. Second, network as much as you can inside and outside your organization. It’s not always what you know but who you know.

What is the favorite part of your job?

The different challenges that come along. It’s not the same thing day in and day out.

What has been your most recent professional accomplishment?

Developing a new method for the determination of dexpanthenol via liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.

How has membership in the SCC been of value to you?

The friendships I’ve made have been amazing! The advice, skills, and connections I’ve made by being a member of the Michigan chapter is a pleasant surprise. Every meeting just feels like a meeting between friends.

What is a fun fact about yourself, outside of the SCC and your professional life?

My husband and I love the water, especially kayaking. We’re trying to channel our sons love for water into a boat. Most trips end up with a fair amount of water in the boat but we’re happy because we’re on the water.
