Course Overview

This course will provide a broad overview of the pigments used in the development of color cosmetic products. Topics include: current global regulatory frameworks will be reviewed, the fundamentals of cosmetic colorants (organic, inorganic, effect, surface treated, natural), pigment incorporation and processing in color cosmetic formulations, color choice, and shade matching.

About the Instructor

Jane Hollenberg

JCH Consulting

Jane Hollenberg has over forty years’ experience in the cosmetic industry, working with fillers, pigments, and pigmented products at Coty, Revlon, and Rona. Since 1996, she has operated JCH Consulting to provide services in the formulation, scale up, and troubleshooting of pigmented cosmetics. She teaches color cosmetics in the University of Cincinnati Cosmetic Science program and serves as a member of the Personal Care Product Council's Color Additive Committee.  Development of surface treatments for cosmetic pigments and fillers and their application to color cosmetics are areas of special interest.
