MEL WEISS
Mel Weiss passed away on April 18, 2024 at the age of 89. Mel was the chairman of the board of directors of Consumer Product Testing Company (CPT), and helped co-found the company in 1975.
Mel was an SCC member for over 57 years, gaining Emeritus membership status. He recieved a BS from Cortland State University and a MS from Columbia University, and started his professional career as a schoolteacher. When he left teaching, he began as a cosmetic chemist at Faberge, working his way up to director of biologic sciences.
During the past 49 years he was a visionary leader, building a company based on ethics and service with excellence. Mel Weiss will be greatly missed by his SCC colleagues.
