Demystifying Silicones: Where Science Meets Real Performance

Silicones remain one of the most debated ingredient classes in the beauty & personal care industry, often shaped by perception rather than performance. This session aims to demystify silicones through a scientific and application‑focused lens, examining why silicones continue to play a critical role in modern formulation.

Drawing on Dow’s robust technical data and application expertise, the presentation will highlight:

  • The role of silicones in heat protection and damage mitigation in hair care
  • How silicones can enhance delivery, stability, and sensorial experience when formulating active‑rich skincare products
  • Common misconceptions and how formulators can communicate ingredient benefits more effectively

Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of when—and why—silicones make sense, backed by data and real‑world application insights.
