Kelly Kanellis

Chair

Kelly joined Kao USA in January, 2008 after earning her Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati.  She began her career as a hair and skin care formulator before moving to the fragrance team.  Since her move in August 2011, Kelly has managed and contributed to several major fragrance projects and brands for Kao, including the John Frieda and German based GUHL for hair care, Jergens and Curel for skin care.  She continues to research the latest fragrance trends and technologies to enhance the overall product experience through fragrance. Kelly enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events, traveling and reading in her free time.

Kelly Dobos

Chair-Elect

Kelly Dobos currently works as an independent consultant in the cosmetic industry. She has been working as an independent consultant for two years and has 20 years of industry experience as a cosmetic chemist. One of her favorite products is mascara, she never leaves home without it. Outside of work Kelly enjoys traveling and has been to 15 countries. In 2021, she made her second trip to Spain and her first to the islands of Greece.

Cassandra Patterson

Treasurer

Cassandra is currently the Research & Innovation Manager at KDC/One Groveport, a contract manufacturer in Columbus, OH. Cassandra started her career in the personal care industry at Vi-Jon, a private label manufacturer, after graduating with a BS in Chemistry. She also spent several years as a formulation chemist for the John Frieda brand at Kao. Cassandra has served in several positions on the OVSCC board including Chair, Chair-Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster.

Kendra Cutcher

Kendra relocated and began working in Cincinnati as a cosmetic chemist in July of 2017 at Athena Medical Products. Working with many different people and companies through George Deckner Consulting Services, she works on various formulations day to day including skincare, haircare, lip products, color cosmetics, and many more. Kendra went to University of Toledo, were she obtained her BSPS in Cosmetic Science and Formulation Design. Currently, she is getting her MBS through Rutgers University in Personal Care Science. Through her time at the OVSCC Kendra has served on the PR Committee, as Chair Elect in 2020 and Chair in 2021. Other than working Kendra loves going on adventures with her dog, SCUBA diving, traveling, and getting the opportunity to visit friends and family.

Apipa (Eins) Wanasathop

Event Planning Committee

Apipa Wanasathop (Eins) originally comes from Bangkok, Thailand. She graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Chulalongkorn University in 2015. After her graduation, she continued her graduate study in cosmetic sciences and joined Dr. Li’s lab at the University of Cincinnati in 2016. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate, focuses on membrane delivery, and plans to graduate in Spring 2022. Eins enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching movies, and reading in her free time.

Christie Parker

Event Planning Committee

Christie is a Sales Manager- PC for Zschimmer and Schwarz. Z&S manufactures surfactants, emollients, emulsifiers, syndets, functional ingredients and polymers. She has been with the company since March 2021. Christie has been in the personal care industry for multiple years working for both distribution and manufacturing. As for the OVSCC, she was Chair elect in 2019, 2020 Chair, and have been involved in event planning in since 2021.

Nick’s current position is Midwest Account Manager at DeWolf Chemical. They are a distributor of personal care raw materials. He joined in June 2019. Nick has a bachelor’s degree (Chemistry) from Hanover College and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Student Relations

Abigail is a Ph.D. student at the University of Cincinnati and has been a member of OVSCC for three years now. She earned a BS in chemistry from Illinois State University and moved to Cincinnati shortly after to begin her graduate studies. She is grateful for the opportunity to be more involved in SCC and continue learning more about the industry.


Lauren Koenig

Public Relations Committee

Lauren works at Kao Corporation in Cincinnati as a Scientist on their Applications Development team and is a recent graduate of the University of Toledo, where she received her BS in Cosmetic Science and Formulation Design. She is very excited to continue being a part of the PR Committee and to enter the personal care industry and learn all that it has to offer. She enjoys spending free time with family and friends, playing board games, disc golfing, and visiting coffee shops.

Suzy Joyce

Suzy is currently a sales professional for Coast Southwest, covering Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. She started in the personal care arena in 2008 launching a ‘beauty from within’ publication and worked with chemical suppliers marketing their ingredients to R & D formulation chemists. Some of her time has been spent in chemical distribution helping customers in Indiana and Ohio with commodity and specialty materials.  Pre-health crisis, she enjoyed attending many personal care events across the globe: in-cosmetics, Society of Cosmetic Chemists, DCAT, Cosmetic Executive Women and Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers.

Suchitra Panigrahi

Webmaster

Suchitra is a Ph.D. Candidate (4th Year) at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a focus on Cosmetic Science in James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy. She obtained her Bachelor and Master of Pharmacy from University of Mumbai. Shortly after graduating in 2015, she joined Lubrizol Advanced Materials-The Lubrizol Corporation in India as a Trainee Scientist. She was part of the Life sciences division of the company and worked on controlled release formulations using Carbopol polymers. After working there for 2 years she moved to Cincinnati to begin her doctoral studies.
