Becoming a Fellow of the Society 

General members whom have achieved full maturity in their profession, as evidenced by a record of outstanding achievement and leadership, may apply for designation as a Fellow of the Society.  Fellow status is an honor that reflects your dedication to the work of the SCC and signifies your allegiance to our mission of advancing Cosmetic Science, while being recognized by your peers and colleagues as a member of this special group.

There are two classes of Fellow Membership and the requirements are different; please read on to determine the appropriate designation you wish to apply for.  To become a Fellow Member, you'll need to complete the Fellow Application, which will appear below after you log in to your member account.  Fellow applications are subject to review by the Fellow Certification Committee and approval by the Board of Directors.

Technical Fellow


A Technical Fellow designation is intended to recognize General members who are engaged in scientific/technical disciplines in the cosmetics and personal care industry whom have achieved full maturity in the profession as evidenced by a record of outstanding achievement and leadership.  Applications are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

  1. Active membership in good standing in the Society for at least ten (10) consecutive years; and
  2. A baccalaureate degree as defined in SCC's Bylaws (Article II, Section 1a), from an accredited college or university; and
  3. A minimum of ten (10) years experience post-baccalaureate degree, in a scientific or technical discipline related directly to the cosmetics and personal care industry; and
  4. At least one of the following:
    • Ten (10) or more scientific publications and/or granted US Patents pertinent or directly related to the cosmetics industry, consisting of original articles or review articles in peer-reviewed journals and/or textbooks; or
    • At least five (5) pertinent publications in peer-reviewed journals PLUS service as a National Officer as defined in SCC's Bylaws (Article V, Section 1); or
    • Recipient of an SCC Achievement Award; or
    • Maison G. de Navarre Medal Award recipient.

Marketing Fellow


A Marketing Fellow designation is intended to recognize General members who are engaged in the technical marketing/technical sales areas in the cosmetics and personal care industry whom have achieved full maturity in the profession as evidenced by a record of outstanding achievement and leadership.  Applications are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

  1. Active membership in good standing in the Society for at least ten (10) consecutive years; and
  2. Service to the Society as a Chapter Board Member, National Board Member, or Officer (as defined in SCC's Bylaws); and
  3. A minimum of ten (10) years experience in a technical marketing or technical sales discipline related directly to the cosmetics and personal care industry; and
  4. At least one of the following:
    • At least ten (10) or more scientific publications or technical presentations directly related to the cosmetics industry (includes presentations made at Society meetings); or
    • Introduction of new products to the industry or show a supporting role that the idea came from the technical marketing or technical sales person; or
    • Recipient of a Chapter service award or Chapter Merit Award.
