The Long Island Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (LISCC) has recognized the need to acknowledge the outstanding accomplishments of individuals looking to further their education. Through the new LISCC scholarship program students who have demonstrated their pursuit of excellence in a variety of areas including school and community involvement, work experience, academic merit, and other leadership experiences are encouraged to compete for this scholarship. A panel of volunteers who comprise the LISCC’s’ Scholarship Committee will begin to review applications beginning in April 2021. The Scholarship is payable in July of 2021. One of our goals of the Scholarship Committee is to reward outstanding achievements both in the community as well as within the classroom.
David D’Ecclesiis was known as one of the more “colorful” personalities among the LISCC community. As president and founder of Amerilure Inc., David was a supplier of raw materials to the cosmetic industry. His first interest in science was born from his passion of fishing which led him to study Marine Biology and eventually earn his Master’s degree from LIU CW Post. After working at Pfizer, first as a bench chemist and later as a director of Regulatory affairs, he started a career in sales which led him to establish Amerilure, Inc. in 1991, a business which specializes in natural colors and minerals. It is in his memory that the LISCC is honored and proud to offer a $1,000 grant awarded to a motivated and deserving High School senior with a proven record of academic excellence and involvement at an accredited four-year institution.
We look forward to receiving your application and wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors.
