Green Star™ Award  
Sponsored by Colonial Chemical

The Green Star™ Award is presented by the Society of Cosmetic Chemists to recognize a green, sustainable formulation, commercialized in the past two years.
 
Criteria for submissions: Product may not have previously been submitted for the award, and must be either 1) currently in market (available for purchase in any channel of distribution: Ecommerce, Retail or Amazon) or 2) will be commercialized by December 2026.
 
Submissions are accepted by completing the online form below prior to the deadline.  The Green Star™ Award winner(s) will receive an award certificate, honorarium, and complimentary SCC membership for one full year.  
 
Winner(s) will also be invited to accept the framed certificate award on-stage during the SCC80 Annual Scientific Meeting & Showcase, December 1-2, 2026, in Los Angeles.

Submissions for the 2026 Green Star Award are now being accepted.

Program & Submission Details  

  1. To be considered for the Green Star™ Award, all required components must be submitted by the deadlines listed below.
  2. The submission must be a commercialized product and must include the following:
    1. ONLINE, RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2026:
      1. Completed application
      2. Appropriate documentation uploaded, as requested
    2. BY MAIL, RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19, 2026:

Five (5) samples of the product in its commercial packaging (we recommend you use a trackable or guaranteed delivery method). Samples should be addressed to:

A committee of cosmetic formulation and ingredient experts will rate each product application based on key Green Star™ Award criteria including:

  • Product Novelty 
  • Product Efficacy
  • Sustainable Ingredients 
  • Sustainable Processing  
  • Sustainable Packaging 

The Committee’s decision is final.  Winner(s) will be notified on or about October 3, 2026

The submission deadline for the Green Star Award online application is Friday, August 14, 2026; product samples must be received by Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

    • Judging panel will review and independently rate each product based on the following criteria. Total scores will be calculated based on the weighted average (weights of each criteria noted below).

    • Product Novelty (25%)

    • Product Efficacy (20%)

    • Sustainable Ingredients (35%)

    • Sustainable Processing (10%)

    • Sustainable Packaging (10%)
