His core focus is design and reconstructing microbial cell factories (e.g., Escherichia coli as chassis cells) to develop industrial biocatalysts for high-value fine chemicals (e.g., trehalose, astaxanthin, sialic acid) in pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetic.
