David Breslauer, Ph.D., is the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Product Officer, and co-founder of Bolt, where he leads R&D to develop cutting-edge polypeptide ingredients for beauty and personal care. His work with polypeptide materials began in 2006 during his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, where he focused on the science of silk and other high performance materials found in nature. At Bolt, he built the company’s Vegan Silk Technology platform from the ground up—from identifying polypeptides in nature through material design to scaling production. He’s published widely on recombinant polypeptides and is passionate about replacing synthetic ingredients with sustainable, high-performance alternatives.
