St. Louis SCC Summer Technical Webinar

July 22, 2027 - Free for SCC Members

St Louis Chapter Webmaster 0 0

The St. Louis Society of Cosmetic Chemists is hosting a free Summer Technical Webinar for SCC members on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am CST. Presented by Heather Dusek, the session is titled "Practical Approaches to Effective Pigment Dispersion in Color Cosmetics". The presentation will highlight how Amino Methylisobutanol acts as a multifunctional additive to improve pigment dispersion, stability, and overall product performance in color cosmetic formulations.

Presenter Name: Heather Dusek

Topic: Practical Approaches to Effective Pigment Dispersion in Color Cosmetics

When: Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am CST

Abstract: Abstract: Achieving consistent pigment dispersion is a critical challenge in developing high-performance color cosmetics. This session will highlight the benefits of Amino Methylisobutanol, a multifunctional additive designed to enhance pigment dispersion, rheology, and application properties in mascaras.  Amino Methylisobutanol ensures smooth and even pigment distribution, preventing clumping for flawless application. By effectively balancing pH levels, it helps create a uniform texture and improves product longevity. As a groundbreaking ingredient tailored for the personal care market, Amino Methylisobutanol represents a new-to-the-world molecule that aligns with EH&S goals and ECOVADIS commitments to deliver high performance and biodegradability. In addition to providing precise pH control, Amino Methylisobutanol helps improve pigment dispersion, hold/feel balance in hair styling, clarity, and viscosity of formulations. Its compatibility with active ingredients makes it a valuable addition to products designed to deliver targeted benefits. This molecule functions as a neutralizer, stabilizer, and pigment dispersion aid, delivering efficient neutralization and excellent compatibility with rheology modifiers in a wide range color cosmetic application. From this presentation, attendees will gain insights into how this novel ingredient enables formulators to achieve desired pigment dispersion in their color cosmetic formulations.
Biography:  Heather Dusek stands as a seasoned professional in the beauty and personal care industry, bringing over 15 years of dedicated experience to her role as North American Personal Care Account Manager at Advancion.

May Meeting Invite: Navigating Raw Material Validation in an Unpredictable Market

Thursday, May 14th, 2026

St Louis Chapter Webmaster 0 0

The St. Louis Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists is excited to announce our upcoming May 14th technical meeting. In an era defined by supply chain volatility and evolving regulations, finding the right ingredients is more complex than ever. Join us for an evening of networking and expert insights into the practicalities of raw material sourcing.

Presentation: “When INCI and CAS Number Aren’t Enough: Practical Strategies for Sourcing and Validating Alternate Raw Materials”

While two ingredients may look identical on a specification sheet or share the same INCI name, their performance in a finished formula can vary drastically. This session will provide a stepwise framework for identifying and validating alternate raw materials, specifically focusing on:

  • Qualitative reviews of technical data sheets.

  • Bench-scale screening methods.

  • Real-world formulation effects, including impacts on foam profile, viscosity, pH stability, and sensory performance.

  • Navigating alternate suppliers within USEPA regulated environments.
