Notes from the Chair January 08, 2026 0 0 Notes from the Chair Brendan Moriarty Dear Members, As Chair of the New England Society of Cosmetic Chemists, I am honored to lead our chapter into 2026. It is a privilege to be part of such a committed and talented scientific community here in New England. Your involvement keeps NESCC strong, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm you bring to every meeting, event, and initiative. This year, our focus is on meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, and stay engaged with the cosmetic science community. We remain committed to the SCC national goals and to delivering programming that supports your professional development. We are pleased to share our 2026 event schedule. On January 8, we opened the year with a virtual presentation from Michelle Yip of Hallstar. Her session highlighted microbiome‑conscious formulation, including solvent‑free botanical eco‑extractions and olive‑derived emulsifiers designed to reinforce barrier function and support microbial balance, and the full recording is available on the NESCC website. From January 30 to February 1, members are invited to the Area I SCC Ski Trip in Vermont. This annual gathering offers a relaxed setting for networking and connecting with colleagues from neighboring chapters. On Thursday, March 26, we will host an in-person chapter meeting at Nuovo in Worcester, MA featuring a speaker from Evonik. This spring session will offer new technical insights and an opportunity to reconnect in person. Our annual NESCC Golf Outing will take place on Monday, September 14 at Blackstone National in Sutton, MA. This outing continues to be one of our most popular events, bringing together members and industry partners for a fun and engaging day. In October, we are proud to host the first ever Area I Educational Event in collaboration with CTSCC, NYSCC, and LISCC. Additional details, including the venue and program, will be announced once finalized [tentative Oct 14-15]. We will conclude the year on Thursday, November 19 with the Installation of Officers. A speaker or special program will be shared once confirmed. As we look ahead, we are pleased to introduce the 2026 NESCC Board. Their dedication and leadership will guide our chapter throughout the year.
