Abstract:

Although healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, scalp care is different from hair care, and it should be approached as such. Scalp care is not just taking care of dandruff, itching, and flaking, but goes deep into molecular level by supporting a healthy barrier and antioxidant function. This talk will focus on a comprehensive approach to taking care of the scalp.

The next prominent subject which is often missed is follicle nutrition. Many a times consumers and product manufacturers are concerned about taking care of external hair health rather than hair follicles. Hair follicle health has a direct effect on normal hair growth patterns effecting hair texture, appearance, and strength. Hence, hair follicle health and nutrition are another important aspect of hair care.

In addition to this, hair is exposed to many stressors such as pollution, radiation, climate, physical and chemical manipulations. Exposome stressors may overcome the body’s protective potential and change the structure of hair leading to pre-mature aging induced damage.

This talk will emphasize on how to take care of scalp health, follicle nutrition and protecting the hair from exposome induced damage.
