The Michigan Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists is the newest of 19 Chapters within a national society that is comprised of over 5,000 members. The Society was founded in 1945 to promote high standards of practice in the cosmetic sciences and to provide the proper forums for the exchange of ideas and new developments in cosmetic research and technology.

May Technical Meeting - Grand Rapids Area

2nd SCCMI Meeting of the Year

Join us for the May 2026 SCCMI Technical meeting at Third Nature Brewing Company (7733 Childsdale Ave NE, Rockford, MI 49341) on Thursday May 28th, 2026.

 

Glycation is a hot topic in the field of cosmetics, both with how it contributes to the appearance of aging, and the use of cosmetic ingredients in formulation to prevent it from forming. But what exactly is glycation? What is meant by AGEs or "Advanced Glycation Endproducts"? Our expert speaker, Dr. Michael Rogowski will do a deep dive in this technical meeting on the topic of how AGEs are formed in the skin, what impacts they have on its appearance, and how we can reduce and prevent their formation with both cosmetic and nutraceutical formulations.

The chapter conducts quarterly meetings around the great state of Michigan, each featuring industry speakers presenting the latest innovations and topics within the cosmetic industry. In addition, the chapter also host a biennial 1-day scientific symposium on the latest topics impacting the global cosmetics industry.
