Charles E. Moses, 65, of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2021. He received his BS degree in Chemistry from Fairfield University in Connecticut and started his career as a chemist with Clairol 1978. He continued to work in the beauty care industry until his retirement in 2020. Charles was known for his amazing athletic abilities and competitive nature. His greatest joy was passing on his love for basketball to his daughters and watching them play during their school years.

Myrna Macarat Mamalayan, 70, born on May 22, 1950, in Hilongos, Philippines, passed away March 16, 2021. She resided in Bellflower, CA at the time of her passing.
The Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) announced the election results for the organization’s 2021 executive officers and area directors. Together with the Board of Directors, they are the governing body focused on the mission, strategy and goals of the Society and are responsible for representing the interests of nearly 6,000 individual cosmetics and personal care industry members globally.
The SCC Media Library and Resource Center has recently unlocked all 2019 Annual Meeting lectures – now accessible FREE for SCC Members (bringing the total to over 70 free presentations). New cosmetic content has also been added to the platform including 13 recent webinars (all from 2020).
Happi and the Independent Beauty Association will be holding a series of FREE basic Indie Beauty short courses March 23-25, 2021. Topics to include Business & Legal, Regulatory, and Product Development.
Given the uncertainty around international travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the IFSCC Mexico Conference 2021 will be now be held as a virtual event. The Call for Papers is currently open (until March 15th, 2021), as well as event registration.
The Florida Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists is excited to present its 2021 Sunscreen Symposium. The event will be held at Disney’s Yacht Club in Lake Buena Vista Florida on September 23rd – 25th, 2021. Registration is now open, with abstract and poster submissions being accepted until March 31st, 2021.
