Presentation Title:  Hurdle Technology: Intelligent combination of preservation techniques ("hurdles") to achieve broad spectrum, mild and reliable preservation effects

Presentation Abstract: The application of Hurdle Technology, a concept broadly used in the food industry, offers many options for expansive innovation in preservation alternatives that can be leveraged in the personal care industry.   Examples of materials that are currently available to personal care formulators will be used to illustrate the multiple benefits of this approach, focusing on utilizing a 100% natural Caprylhydroxamic Acid in combination with Medium Chain Terminol Diols like Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Heptanoate, or Methylheptylglycerin to create complete ingredient systems that enable broad spectrum formulation preservation. These combinations are optimized for use in a variety of formulation types, meeting specific formulation design and production criteria, including 100% natural combinations, high water solubility, cold processability, and a variety of other parameters.

Speaker Bio:  Ms. Judy Zhuang is the Director of Sales Service at INOLEX. Judy received her M.S. degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from University of Iowa. Judy has worked in the Cosmetic and Personal Care Industry since 1996. Prior to joining INOLEX, Judy had worked in the R&D / Application Labs at EMD (2012~2015), BASF (2002~2012), Symrise (1998~2002) and IFF (1996~1998). Judy joined INOLEX in 2015 as the Director of the Application Labs, later moved to her current Sales role since 2019.
