2010 YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD
In 1993 the SCC initiated a program to recognize the achievements of the younger scientists working in the cosmetic industry called the Young Scientist Award. This Award consists of a scroll, suitably inscribed, which shall be presented annually to one scientist from each cosmetic manufacturer, supplier, or other organization in the cosmetics and personal products industries. The cost of this award is absorbed by the Society. The selective criteria are left to the judgment of the respective companies. The recipient must be a Member or National Affiliate in good standing of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists for at least one year and shall have been employed in the industry for no more than ten years. The recipient may only receive the Award once. Recommendations should be submitted directly to the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, which shall verify the eligibility of the recipient.

The presentation of the Award is made annually during the fourth quarter and can be accomplished by one of two methods. These include public presentation at a Chapter meeting or by the individual companies who choose to make private presentations. This Award has been designed to recognize the achievements of younger scientists while giving the respective companies the opportunity to encourage professionalism in their employees.

If your company would like to take part in this program, please contact Bill Cowen at the National Office to request the nomination form and return it to the SCC office by July 1, 2010. After the Society has reviewed the eligibility of your nominee you will be notified of the Award and the scroll will be prepared for presentation according to your instructions.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE
The Society of Cosmetic Chemists announced earlier this year the opening of our new digital archive. All SCC Journal issues going back to the very first issue have been digitized and are online and fully searchable.

You can access the archive here:journal.scconline.org

While most of the archive is available to the public, only members can access issues from 2006 forward. To access the member-only issues, you will need the following information:

User Name: Your first initial and last name all lower case
Password: SCC Member ID# found on your SCC Memebership Card

If you are a newly elected member (January through June 2009) your membership information will be interfaced with the Archive system in July. An email confirmation will be sent. Members elected in July through December will be updated in January 2010.
