The Midwest Chapter has the distinction of being the Society's first chapter, however it was originally called the Chicago Chapter when it was formed in 1948. The first installation of officers took place on June 14, 1949. Today, the chapter has over 350 members, 28 of which are Emeritus members. The Midwest Chapter meets several times a year and publishes a newsletter called SCCoop.
